The Roque d'Anthéron International Piano Festival

It was in 1980 that Paul Onoratini, mayor of La Roque d'Anthéron, decided to put the spotlight on the piano every year in his city. The international piano festival of La Roque d'Anthéron was born and destined to be a huge success! Every year, it attracts a large number of music lovers who have come to listen to the greatest virtuosos of the piano: Evgeny Kissin, Nikolai Lugansky, Alexandre Tharaud, Hélène Grimaud, Mauricio Vallina, Nelson Freire, as well as other instrumentalists of international renown.

The La Roque d'Anthéron festival is particularly appreciated by the public due to the enchanting character of its setting: the concerts take place mainly in the open-air auditorium of the Parc du Château de Florans, but also in the Théâtre Forbin, in the cloister or nave of the Abbey of Silvacane, in the Temple of Lourmarin, the church of the town or at the Etang des Aulnes (again in an open-air auditorium). Among these other magical and unexpected places that host the concerts of the festival, one can also find the Careers of Rognes, for the concerts of jazz and electronics. There are som great decors, also some exceptional interpreters: all the ingredients for an unforgettable moment under the sun of Provence!

Being on the increase, the festival also became a training place: there are some groups in residence who study right beside the greatest masters, during the  masterclasses which are very sought after. These training courses then go to and fro the surrounding villages in order to perform. Do not miss these free concerts!
